20 Things Every Disciple Needs to Know

  1. Jesus is Lord, not just Savior.
Disciples don’t just believe in Him — they follow Him.
  2. Discipleship is daily.
    It’s not a weekend hobby; it’s a lifestyle.
  3. You must deny yourself sometimes.
Your flesh will argue, but your spirit must lead.
  4. Obedience matters more than feelings.
Feelings change. God’s Word does not.
  5. The Bible is your foundation.
You cannot stay strong without staying in the Word.
  6. Prayer is your lifeline.
Disciples don’t just talk about God — they talk to God.
  7. The Holy Spirit is your Helper.
You were never meant to follow Jesus in your own strength.
  8. God uses ordinary people.
Availability beats “having it all together.”
  9. Spiritual growth takes time.
Strong roots grow slowly and deeply.
  10. Trials don’t mean God left you.
Many times they mean God is strengthening you.

People should see Jesus in how you treat them.
  13. Forgiveness is required, not optional.
    Freedom flows where forgiveness lives.

What you allow in will shape what comes out.
  15. You need Christian community.
    Lone sheep are easier targets.
  16. Serving is part of following.
Disciples don’t just consume — they contribute.
  17. You must resist the enemy.
Spiritual warfare is real, but so is God’s power.
  18. Your identity is in Christ.
You are not your past, your pain, or your mistakes.
  19. You are called to make disciples.
Disciples reproduce disciples — it’s part of the mission.
  20. Jesus is worth it — forever.
The cost is real, but the reward is eternal.

  • If you want spiritual fruit, you have to stay connected to the Vine.

I

Becoming a Disciple

Questions to Ask Before Becoming a Disciple

  1. Do I truly believe Jesus is the Son of God and Lord of my life?
Or do I only like the idea of Him when life is comfortable?
  2. Am I willing to surrender my life to Jesus, not just add Him to my life?
Will He be my King… or just my helper?
  3. Am I ready to turn from sin and let Jesus change what needs changing?
Not hiding, not excusing — repenting and growing.
  4. Am I willing to obey Jesus even when it costs me comfort, approval, or relationships?
Would I still follow if it gets unpopular?
  5. Am I willing to be taught, corrected, and shaped by God’s Word?
Or do I want to stay in control and only accept what I agree with?
  6. Am I ready to build consistent habits: prayer, Bible reading, and worship?
Because spiritual strength doesn’t happen by accident.
  7. Am I willing to love people like Jesus loves people — including forgiveness?
Even the hard ones. Even the ones who hurt me.
  8. Am I willing to be a witness and live unashamed of Jesus?
Not perfect — but faithful, bold, and real.

Wisdom Nuggets

Wisdom Nuggets Every Disciple Needs to Know

  1. A disciple is not just a believer. A disciple is a follower.
You do not only agree with Jesus. You adjust your life to Jesus. Obedience is love in action.
  2. Consistency beats intensity.
A little Word every day builds a strong spirit. Small daily steps with Jesus will carry you farther than one big emotional moment.
  3. Your fruit proves your roots.
What grows out of your life reveals what is growing in your heart. Stay rooted in Scripture, prayer, and repentance, and your life will change from the inside out.
  4. Correction is a blessing, not an insult.
God disciplines the ones He loves. A teachable heart is a protected heart, and humility keeps you growing.
